Installing a solar system today means you won't have to worry about the price of electricity in the future. Solar modules generally have a warranty of 25 years and may last much beyond that.

For the environment

Solar energy generates no pollution. Even when considering the manufacturing needed to produce the equipment, a solar electric system has a net positive effect.

To prevent local brownouts

While most utilities do little to encourage solar, it has a great benefit for them. By generating electricity at the time when peak demands generally occur, the utility has to provide less and will be better able to supply demands. The more solar installed in your area, the less likely it is you will experience brownouts.
